Event: 3 Ways Therapists can be Gender Inclusive
This month’s Workshop/Fundraiser is about the 3 ways your therapy practice can be gender inclusive.
We’ll be meeting Thursday March 25th 5-6pm PST. The very lovely Cate Desjardins, LMSW (they/them) will speak to us about gender diversity and inclusivity. Cate runs Authentic Self Consulting & Psychotherapy, a private practice and consulting business in which they provide services specializing in exactly this.
Moving through our world as a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or nonbinary person comes with specific, significant challenges. Many LGBTQ+ folx struggle with chronic anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress simply as a result of trying to live an authentic life.
Even the most well-intentioned, conscientious therapists and practices can struggle to have a truly inclusive environment when it comes to LGBTQ+ folx. I know I certainly get it wrong at times and am constantly updating my framework.
Let’s take some time to learn together.
After Cate shares, I will teach you how to create social media posts using Canva, and will share a few gender inclusive templates you can use on Instagram, Facebook, etc.
As always, this workshop is free(!). Since starting our Workshop/Fundraisers in December 2020, we have donated $2k+ to anti-racism organizations. There is so much power in therapists coming together and taking action as a community.
This month we’ll be donating to the Ruth Ellis Center, which (taken from their website) has “has established a national reputation for quality and innovation in providing trauma-informed services for lesbian, gay, bi-attractional, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ+) youth, and young adults, with an emphasis on young people of color, experiencing homelessness, involved in the child welfare system, and/or experiencing barriers to health and well-being”.
