Chronic Illness + Private Practice

I've dealt with chronic fatigue most of my adult life. Recently, I finally got a diagnosis and feel so grateful to understand what's going on.

I know I’m not alone as a private practice owner struggling with chronic illness. Here are a few things I’ve discovered:

Benefits:

  • Higher Income: Running a private practice brings in more income, allowing for access to more alternative treatments.

  • Flexible Hours: You can set your own hours to align with your body’s natural rhythms.

  • Outsourcing: You can delegate tasks that take too many spoons.

Challenges:

  • Responsibility: The burden of being everything in the business can exacerbate symptoms.

  • Unpaid Breaks: When you need to take a break, you don't get paid.

For me, the pros outweigh the cons, and all the cons are completely manageable. So if you're curious about private practice, I can say that from my experience, it's a good fit. More than that though, I mostly wanted to let you know that if you experience chronic illness + private practice ownership, you're not alone.
